Lioness Protecting Cubs

A high percentage of lion Cubs in the Kalahari, as high as 50% do not survive till adulthood, they either get killed by predators like Leopards or Wild Dogs or by rival male who are always waiting to take over prides by ousting the Prides males. On our private Game Reserve in the Northern Boundary of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve at Kudu bush one of our water Pans. We were lucky to spot this Lioness defending her three Cubs from a male lion. 'The lioness fought fiercely to defend her Cubs against the younger and much powerful Male, we could see her maternal instinct in full flow!'
